Project Management & Podcast Production Process

Show Authoring, by Crate.

A comprehensive end-to-end, done-with-you podcast system.

In podcasting, Show Authoring is the process of assembling show assets, ideation, and source material into the proper logical production workflow, process, and timeline, to yield a final end product. The end product refers not only to the final audio episode of the podcast, but a companion video episode, writing, metadata, and associated digital content related to the episode.

On a show-level: the development of the podcast itself and its official launch; gathering assets and source material in order to create the Show Identity via our Capture process; the end product of which is a fully published and cataloged podcast.

On an episode-level: the production process of each episode on a recurring weekly (or other) basis; recordings, artwork, information, notes, and otherwise; the end product of which is a completed episode to be distributed on the podcast feed and associated channels.

We’re not a production house.

As podcasting evolves, Show Authoring has evolved into a story-driven workflow, fueled by content creation rather than technical methodology.

While we excel at processes and automation, we have put the spotlight on the content. It is driven by operations behind the scenes but this is now a Storybuilding process to the core.

Your focus should always be on delivering the best performance with the best content. We take care of the rest with Show Authoring. Release schedules, interview logistics, guest booking, promo and announcements… everything centers around the episode itself.

With a mind towards optimizing and automating, we’ve built a waterfall system stemming from your episode content. Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

Our Show Authoring process is rigid enough to be reliable, and also flexible enough to be tailored to the systems you already use. We believe you shouldn’t have to rewrite the entire playbook when you start a podcast. We adapt natively to your team’s processes and incorporate them into our assembly line.
